What is the purpose of community mapping?
Community Mapping allows the community assessment team to visualize the community and to study disease concentrations, identify at-risk populations, better understand program implementation, examine risk factors, and/or study interactions that affect health.
This approach includes observing formal institutions within a community to examine the interrelationship between its different components, such as family life, religion, and schools
KEEPRA
observes Kinship—What observations can you make about family and family life?
Economics—Does the community appear to have a stable economy, or are there signs of economic decline or economic growth?
Education—What observations can you make related to schools and other educational institutions, such as libraries and museums?
Political—Is there evidence of political activity in the community, such as signs supporting someone’s candidacy for elected office?
Religious—Are there any mosques, churches, or synagogues in the community?
Associations—What evidence do you see of neighborhood associations? Business associations? What other resources are present, such as recreation centers?
To prevent disease and promote health in populations, advocate, assessment, policy development, and assurance of programs
What is the function of PHN
A center that provides health care to anyone, regardless of their ability to pay
Federally Qualified Health Center
This model provides the underlying theory that drives program design, guiding a team in planning a well-thought-out intervention
Logic model
Includes: input (gathering of resources), activities (identify what activities will be done to address the problem), output (evidence of service delivery), outcome (changes expected in 1-3 then 4-6 years), and impact (changes expected in 7-10 years)
A PHN completes an assessment on homeless people in the community, what kind of assessment was completed
What is population focused assessment
Program for children whose families make too much money to qualify for Medicaid but not enough to hold private insurance
CHIP (Children's health insurance program)
During this phase of program planning, the PHN and their team specify tasks and estimate which resources are needed
implementation phase
What is the assessment of demographic data, assets, unmet needs, health disparities, and opportunities for action in a community
Comprehensive community assessment
What are the steps to the MAPIT guide?
What is Mobilize (gather those with a stake or interest in the health of the community),
2. assess (determine needs and resources of the community),
3. plan (action plan, steps, and timeline are delineated),
4. implement (actions and strategies are implemented),
5. track (program is tracked to ensure long term success).
What kind of assessment identifies potential work hazards and reviews work-related injuries within a company?
What is a setting-specific assessment
This program focuses on maternal child health, such as Infant mortality, and Low birth weight
Healthy Start Program
Purpose of interviewing key informants
To obtain data such as values, beliefs, and perceived needs of the community
1: This term describes the extent to which elected officials will accept and support a proposed policy
2: This term refers to the extent to which the public will accept and support a policy proposal
1. What is political feasibility
2. Social acceptability
This framework/tool starts with the end in mind and includes evaluation at the beginning of the assessment process
The stated purpose of the CHANGE tool is to enable local stakeholders and community team members to survey and identify community strengths and areas for improvement regarding current policy, systems, and environmental change strategies.
The process provides a community with the foundation for conducting a program evaluation.
The idea is to start with the end in mind and include evaluation in the beginning of the assessment process
Part 1: This kind of assessment includes assessing the health impacts of policies, plans, and projects in diverse economic sectors using quantitative, qualitative, and participatory techniques
Part 2: What are the 5 steps in this kind of assessment?
What is health impact assessment. Steps to the health impact assessment include:
1. Screening (identifying plans, projects, or policies for which an HIA would be useful)
2. Scoping (identifying which health effects to consider)
3. Assessing risks and benefits (identifying which people may be affected and how they may be affected)
4. Developing recommendations (suggesting changes to proposals to promote positive health effects or to minimize adverse health effects)
5. Reporting (presenting the results to decision makers), Monitoring and evaluating (determining the effect of the HIA on the decision)
Provides health services to the Native American population
What is the Indian Health Services
What is the first step a PHN should take to identify published, peer-reviewed, evidence-based practice?
Conduct a literature review
A public health department ran by the local government without a board of health is considered what?
A Decentralized public health department
The first steps of the PRECEDE-PROCEED Model
What is a comprehensive community assessment
This assessment focuses on the positive assets within a community instead of the deficits, such as useful qualities, persons, systems, places, etc
Part 1: Insurance program that covers most low-income adults under the age of 65
Part 2: Who determines eligibility for this program?
1. What is Medicaid
2. the states in which one resides
Part 1: This type of Evaluation that occurs at the end of a program to evaluate objectives and goals
Part 2: This type of data gathers beliefs and perceptions about ones' illness
1. What is a summative evaluation
2. Qualitative data
Data collected regarding Birth, death, marriage, and divorce
Vital Statistics
This framework includes the scope of health planning and an action phase
