Dealing a fixed 40 HP of damage, this move is obviously unbalanced in a tier where all pokemon are set to level 5.

Perhaps it's fitting that this mon got the fastest quickban in OU history, lasting in the tier for about 25 hours before the council had an emergency quickban.

Introduced in generation 9, this item has a niche benefit that isn't mentioned in-game: it allows unaware pokemon to still ignore stat boosts if the attacker has mold breaker.

Once a top-tier threat in gen 8 OU, weavile fell all the way to RU in gen 9, with many citing the loss of these two moves as the reason for it's downfall.

This new gen 9 pokemon was banned from LC for most of the same reasons that it's evolution was banned from OU, though it's evolution took a few more months to get it's ban

Having previously been plagued by a severe lack of coverage in gen 8 ubers, access to terastilization made this mon the sole resident of gen 9 AG shortly after pokemon home released.
What is calyrex-shadow?
Due to an oversight, recovery moves in generation 1 would fail if the amount of HP your pokemon was missing from it's maximum was one of these two numbers.
What are 255 and 511?
This berry, which raises a random stat by 2 stages when the holder is at 25% HP or less, might seem too random and unreliable to be worth using, but it occasionally sees use on ADV baton pass teams
What is starf berry?
After losing access to this powerful psychic type move, indeedee-f dropped from NUBL all the way to ZUBL.
What is expanding force?
Although this item is no longer banned, the amount of HP it gave at level 5 was considered too much for LC, at least until it was unbanned in generation 6.

With it's usage rates being split across multiple forms, this pokemon has gained a reputation as the most banned pokemon in gen 9, seeing as all of it's forms are currently in a BL
What is oricorio?
If you miss high jump kick in generation 1, you'll actually take this much crash damage, as opposed to the 50% you might be used to.

Though this item technically does nothing, the fact that the item cannot be replaced via trick/switcheroo gives it value in protecting defensive pokemon from potentially being burdened with a choice item.

Unlike most moves where all the pokemon that can learn it are unavailable in Scarlet and Violet, this rock-type recharge move can't even be called by metronome
What is rock wrecker?
After being a staple of LC for generation after generation, this ghost type was deemed too powerful for gen 8 after the removal of pursuit, and it hasn't returned to the tier since.

Aside from slaking, this dragon-type pokemon had a BST nearly 70 points higher than anything else in NU during the first month, and was the first thing to go when the tier was able to enact quickbans.

If this rather unlikely series of events occurs, a pokemon can actually lose more than 1/16th of it's HP from a burn after it attacks.
What is getting badly poisoned, then using rest, then getting burned?
Before it was called the lum berry from generation 3 onwards, this generation 2 item had the same effect of curing any status condition or confusion when consumed
What is miracle berry?
This recovery move didn't make the cut in gen 8, even though it's sole user did make it into Sword and Shield.

Though it's stats are obviously too much for LC, there's never actually been a need to ban this normal-type, since it's not possible to obtain at level 5.
