Which character in "Spongebob" was out to get the Krabby Patty formula (recipe)?

Plankton

100

S4O6

tetrasulfur hexoxide

Is sodium oxide an ionic or covalent compound and how do you know?

Ionic - metal + nonmetal or name does not have prefixes

100

Which singer sings the song "Shape of You"?

Ed Sheeran

100

Darth Vader uses "The Force". What is the name of the actor that voiced Darth Vader in "Star Wars"?

James Earl Jones

200

Dicarbon trioxide

C2O3

200

What is the name of author who wrote "The Great Gatsby"?

F. Scott Fitzgerald

Explain why the compound "copper nitrate" is not the name of a compound? Hint: try writing the formula for it to find out what is wrong.

No roman numeral so not sure what charge the copper has.
200

What shape is SF2

Bent

200

Is CNF polar or nonpolar and explain your reasoning?

Polar because the pull from fluorine on carbon is more than the pull on nitrogen so they do not cancel out

300

Sodium nitride

Na3N

300
AlCl3

Aluminum chloride

300

Which two countries are "bonded" because they share the longest border in the world?

US and Canada

300

What shape is SiSO?

Linear

300

Is CF4 polar or nonpolar? Explain your reasoning.

Nonpolar - even though each bond is polar, the molecule is symmetrical so the pull from each fluorine cancels out.

Iron (II) acetate

Fe(C2H3O2)2

OR Fe(CH3COO)2

400

CrCO3

Chromium (II) carbonate

You are trying to determine the type of bond in an unknown substance. You find it has a low melting point, dissolves in water, and does not conduct electricity. What type of bond does the compound contain:  nonpolar covalent, polar covalent, or ionic?

Polar Covalent

400

What shape is NH2Cl?

Trigonal pyramidal

400

State the type of intermolecular force that would occur between CH3Cl and H2S. Then state whether these compound would be miscible or immiscible.

dipole-dipole forces

Miscible (both polar)

500

Ammonium thiosulfate

(NH4)2S2O3

500

Cu3PO4

copper (I) phosphate

Explain the relationship the difference between polar covalent bonds and ionic bonds in terms of electronegativity and what is happening between the electrons of the bond.

Polar covalent - there is an electronegativity difference between the atoms that are sharing electrons so the electrons are not shared equally (the one with higher eneg pulls electrons towards itself).

Ionic - the electronegativity between the atoms is SO big that the more eneg atom completely steals an electron from the other atom (transfer of electrons)

500

What shape is CH2S?

Trigonal Planar

500

Which compound would have the greatest surface tension and why?

SiF4  OR  NH3  OR  CH3Cl

NH3 is most polar and can have hydrogen bonding forces. Therefore it has the strongest forces between molecules which would make it difficult to break the surface resulting in a higher surface tension.
