If someone makes a joke or comment that makes you uncomfortable, what is an appropriate way to address it?

If someone intentionally, or unintentionally, makes a joke or comment that makes you uncomfortable, you have the right to say, "please do not make a joke about X around me in the house. I don't find that subject to be funny." Talk to a manager, etc.

Send a message to the gc first. If it still hasn't been addressed, take their laundry out and put it in a clean trash bag or hamper and place on top of the machine.

Remember that we are all human and may not always have the right words or the most polished or well formulated ideas. Take ownership of the impact of your actions and words. Be gentle and patient with yourself and others.

Where are members allowed to smoke weed or vape, and what precautions should they take to minimize the smell?

Smoke weed or vape in the Chapel and personal rooms only. Seek consent from others in the room first. Vaping can minimize smell. Open the street facing windows but NOT the courtyard facing windows, and blow smoke out of the window if possible. Consider lighting an incense stick or candle to help mask the scent of weed in common spaces.

Given that we are in a cooperative community, how can we limit tense interactions in our group forums? (our group chats, common spaces, etc.) 

Messages in the group chat should be positive, respectful, culturally sensitive. Keep messages about an individual's conduct out of house emails/gcs. Hand negative matters privately with the person in question. Ask managers to help mediate conflict. Avoid offensive jokes/language.

If you are hosting a guest, what are some of your responsibilities as the host? (name at least 3)

Responsible for: letting their own guest in. Cleaning guest room + linens after guest stay. Responsible for guest's actions and must be in house with their guest(s). If guest is eating dinner + communal resources, please pay $4 to karma box.

Encourage brave space by speaking up for yourself or as a bystander. Address the situation directly, rather than with passive aggression.

Currently, what is our COVID safety protocol? 

Mask if noticing symptoms. Self-isolate for a minimum of 5 days if tested positive, and cannot leave quarantine until 2 negative tests are taken at least 24 hrs apart. After leaving isolation, shall wear a mask indoors for 10 days following. Active COVID cases in house, masks shall all be worn in common spaces and meals shared in groups of 6 or less or eaten outside.
