This male Conley was a popular horse jockey from the 1890s until 1915. He attracted large crowds from California to New York, riding horses owned by G.A. Singerly, John E. Madden, and famed African-American horse breeder Raleigh Colston. He was the last African-American jockey to place in the Kentucky Derby in 1911.
