Taylor asked his teacher what it was and made a joke about it looking like fruit punch. "It may look like fruit punch, but this liquid is not edible! It could make you very sick if you drank it!" warned Mrs. Strode.

Edible means able to be eaten. 

Clues: Mrs. Strode saying that if you drank the liquid you would get sick shows that this is not something you are able to eat or drink. The word "but" also showed that she was about to describe a difference between the liquid and fruit punch.
