Drink water frequently – use the hydration poster as a guide for dehydration 

Wear light loose clothing

Take breaks in cool areas

Avoid direct sunlight

Use the “buddy system” – each worker should stop briefly and check on their co worker’s condition. Personnel may not notice their own symptoms

Recognize the increased risk on hot, humid days and take action accordingly

Workers on medication or with pre-existing medical conditions may be more susceptible to heat stress

Avoid drinking caffeine or alcohol, or eating heavy, hot meals
