Cues that are used to confirm and show that you are listening and are involved in the interaction. Without indicating you want the speaker role.

Be clear, make sure the other person understands you.
What is manner?
Attempts to take over the role of the speaker, change the topic of the subject, and assert power to have control.
What are interruptions?
Complimenting without criticizing
What is approbation?
A type of excuse that people use who deny what they are being accused of.
What is the "i didn't do it" excuse?
Be informative, give details that are necessary to communicate your point. Don't give too much or too little information.
What is quantity?
An act that is designed to help a person maintain the speaker role.
What is turn maintaining?
Don't try to impose on others or challenge their rights to do as they wish
What is tact?
A person won't acknowledge their mistakes and are quick to pass the blame.

Stay relevant to the topic of the conversation.

A way the speaker indicates they are finished and want to change the role to listener.
What is turn yielding cues?
To minimize compliments you receive and at the same time you can complement the other person
What is modesty?
A type of excuse in which people admit to doing what they are being accused of, but claim the offense was not really so bad or perhaps that there was justification for their behavior.
What is the "it wasn't so bad" excuse?
Be truthful, don't say things you know are false.
