No, everyone has different anger triggers.  We may all get upset by similar things, but each of us have different things that tend to be more of a struggle for us than others.

Use positive self-talk.  (If I keep practicing, I can do this) Have a growth mindset, and recognize that each attempt helps me to learn, and that it is brave to try new things, especially when it is difficult.

Your friend tells you that they forgot that they didn't pack their lunch that day and didn't order a school lunch either.  They are tired and hungry after school that day.  Is it a good time to ask them to do a favor for you?  

Probably not.  People can struggle to help or be nice when they are too tired and too hungry.  Wait to ask about things that are important to you until the person you are asking is in a calm state.

(Extra credit:  How would you know that they are in a calm state?)

Then we can anticipate how others may react.  If I know that you are upset right now, I will know that you may need to use a coping skill to calm down before I am able to talk to you in a productive/helpful way.

Our behavior tells a story.  I see a friend rip up and throw their paper into the garbage.  What do you think is happening and how do you think you could help?

Your friend is probably feeling frustrated or angry about how their work is going.  Giving them space and time to work through their feelings may be the best bet in this scenario, even though you may want to say words of encouragement.

I go over to play at my friend's house, but every game that I suggest we play, they say "no" to.  I'm mad.  What else may be hiding underneath?
