What languages do CORA staff speak?
Most CORA staff are bilingual in Spanish/English, however, if we have a need for another language, we have a translation service that can translate for us.
What is the wait time to get into shelter with CORA?
There is no wait time for someone who needs help and is in immediate danger. We will provide a place to stay if our shelters are full.
How can a client or community partner participate in TDAH?
With the current contract ending in December, it is best to refer clients to their local library in the San Mateo County Libraries system, where they can pick a bag up.
What is CORA's legal line and how long does it take to get a call back?
Clients can call the legal line to get referred to legal services for support or they can call to discuss their case and simply get legal advice without bringing their case to CORA. Clients can expect a call back from CORAs legal team within 2 business days. Clients should expect a call from a blocked number and need to state in their voicemail if it's okay to leave a voicemail or not.

Can clients walk-in to office for services?
Yes, CORAs main office is open 9am-5pm, Monday-Friday, for walk-ins. We have a crisis counselor on-site every day who can support a client in need.

What services are available for the person causing harm?
CORA's mission is to serve survivors of domestic violence. For services tailored for the person causing harm we recommend court-ordered programs such as a batterer's intervention program or anger management classes. StarVista also has programs for helping individuals comply with court mandates, including counseling and education on issues like anger management, relationships, and behavioral concerns.
What kind of mental health services does CORA provide?
You can only call hotline to start the referral process with CORA.
No. You can call CORA just to talk to a hotline staff about your relationship and receive emotional support. A client can call back as many times as they want before they actually ask to be referred to CORA services. We did a recent study that showed that a client called 7 times just to talk before accepting services at CORA.
Does CORA have a housing program?
Yes. And note that due to demand availability is limited.
How should clients that live in EPA get connected to the EPA office/client advocate?
Answers varies: call CORA hotline, walk-in to EPA office, community partner fills out referral form or schedule appointment ahead of time.

Yes, legal advocates or client advocates can provide court accompaniment to clients.
Does CORA provide child-care for parents while they are in appointments at CORA?
Yes, we have two child-watch specialists who can provide childcare while parent/guardian is at their appointment while on-site.
What is the ERP Program at CORA?
CORA’s ERP (Emergency Response Program) is a partnership between the agency and local law enforcement. Law enforcement refers those who are brought to their attention so CORA can connect them to CORA’s array of supportive services.
Is there an assessment to get into safe house?
Yes, safe house staff will contact client to complete assessment and intake.
