Who is the defendant?
"I did do the crime and I accept full responsibility."
What is guilty?
The judge is the only person deciding the verdict in this kind of trial.
What is a bench trial?
A lesser charge that results in less than a year of time.
What is a misdemeanor?
Accepting a plea bargain results in skipping straight to this. This is conducted by only the judge.
What is sentencing?
They are chosen at random from the community and listen to the evidence, ultimately coming to a verdict.
Who is the jury?
"I did not do what I am being accused of."
What is not guilty?
These pleas will require a trial and I give up the ability to get a plea bargain.
What is not guilty and not guilty by reason of insanity?
A more serious charge that results in at least a year.

These two are the only ones who have a say in the outcome of a trial.
Who are the jury and judge?
"I'm not saying I did it, but I'll take the punishment so I can hopefully get a deal."
What is no contest?
I can possibly get a plea bargain but only if I choose these pleas.
What is no contest and guilty?
The decision of whether one is guilty or not guilty is called this.
What is a verdict?
"I promise to tell the truth and nothing but the truth."
What is going under oath?
This person's job is to get you the best possible outcome in your case.
Who is the public defender?
"I wasn't able to tell right from wrong when I did it."
What is not guilty by reason of insanity?
These people are involved in agreeing upon a plea bargain.
Who is the judge, public defender, and district attorney?
This is what is brought into the courtroom and can be for me or against me. There are 2 different kinds of this.
What is evidence?
No one can make me do this because I have the right to not self-incriminate.
What is testify?
They press charges against you and their goal is to convict you.
Who is the district attorney?
These pleas go straight to sentencing.
What is guilty and no contest?
Accepting a plea bargain means giving up these two rights.
What is a jury trial and appeal?
A psychiatrist, blood spatter analyst, and medical professional would be in this category.
What is expert witness?
Due to having this, my attorney cannot share my information with anyone else.
