Jesus offers more than just rescue from sin. Although it is good to be free, Jesus offers redemption. He is doing what is necessary to by humanity back and lead us to life. It is not just rescue from something, it is rescue to something...back to paradise and into a relationship with God

According to the lesson on rescue, why was Jesus' reading Isaiah 61 and claiming to be the rescue not what the Israelites expected?
Isaiah 61 was a source of hope, a hope of deliverance from captivity. Lots of people rose up against oppression and claimed to be the Messiah but they failed. They expected someone who would rescue them from oppressive foreign nations, but Jesus was offering a rescue into the kingdom of God, back to paradise and back into a relationship with God.
According to the lesson on Kindness, how are we sometimes guilty of treating people more like Pharisees did and less like Jesus did?
Some times we get caught up in trying to be right, prove our point or get a decision for Christ that we actually spend more time insulting others rather than finding ways to connect and relate. Waxing eloquent about the saving power of Jesus and reciting verse after verse to everyone is treating people more than like the Pharisees did. Creating relationships with others is what Jesus did and communicates the gospel larger and louder than any words we use.
