A singer's introduction before an audition; usually they state their name, piece, and what the work is from
What is slating
A final exam given after three semesters of Keyboarding. You must pass this exam in order to continue the major.

A smaller semester of classes dedicated to one or two focused classes for an entire month

Unlike opera which follows a (typically secular) plotline and a traditional lack of narration, this larger work features only sacred religious text and a form of narration.

What is recitative?
The end of semester performance with adjudications. The amount of pieces performed fluctuates on the year that you are in (Sophmore vs. Junior) as well as whether or not you are pursuing a degree in that instrument.

Unlike the standard art song, which is a piece of vocal music that is standalone and doesn't follow a specific plot- this vocal work is an important aspect of an opera's plotline, and usually highlights the character's inner thoughts.
What is an aria
Similar to juries, it is a preliminary performance before junior and senior recitals that allows you to proceed with your recital.
Recital Hearings
The place where you can check how many classes you have left to complete your degree, you can also see your GPA.
