AUDIENCE- GENERALLY stay in your seat assigned to you, stay quiet during show, no food/drink in auditorium, no flash photos and don't block actor entries and exits, etc.

PERFORMANCE- Don't break character, project voices, ignore hecklers, cover up a fumble, collaborate with others.

Ms. Pearce tells your group they are missing the mark on the "MIND" toolbox element. Explain what she means by this.

I.E. not doing research or understanding your location, character, and/or the situation clearly. You are not using your prior knowledge about these to properly act or play the scene in an accurate way.

DOUBLE JEOPARDY QUESTION: Explain the term "YES, AND" in a scene. What does it mean?

To accept an offer/idea in a scene, and add to it. It's a way to help the scene to continue or remember the goal.

300

Tell us 3 rules or expectations in this class.

IDEAS: Quietly enter and grab notebooks, stay with volume levels, make a Smartpass every time you leave the classroom (except tutoring), be prepared, stay open-minded, use appropriate language and behavior, etc.

How is performance etiquette different from a proscenium stage to a blackbox stage? I need at least 1 OR 2 ways.

1. Formalities (the illusion of professionalism is more chill in blackboxes)

2. Tech Elements (Black boxes are often SO much less tech, very minimal)

3. Preparation (Prosceniums are often holding productions with months (or more) of prep time).

4. AUDIENCE SEATING (Adjusting acting to audiences on 1 side vs. flexible seating).

400

DOUBLE JEOPARDY QUESTION: I am performing a devised (original, made up) scene with a partner and the scene instantly goes "STALE." I try to recover my offering a new choice or idea to the scene, but my partner isn't helping and decides to sit there. What actor's toolbox element is my PARTNER NOT following?

WHAT IS COLLABORATION (OR IMAGINATION)?

400

This is a type of rehearsal done in the last 2-3 rehearsals before a production opens for the audience to watch where actors use ALL tech elements and even get in costume and makeup to do a practice performance with feedback. (HINT: _______ rehearsal; 5 letters)
