What is CSD dress code?
Dress code: business casual  no ripped clothing, no holes, no stains. Avoid heavy perfumes, excessive jewelry, sweats.  Be mindful of work environment (ie. on floor, painting, outdoors, school or community outing, etc.

What are some default items to always have?
Hand Sanitizer Sensory Items Slime Finger paint Sensory bin (e.g., bean or rice bin with various textured/colored items, small toys) Bubbles Turn-taking games (depending on developmental age) Games that develop other skills (e.g., a game where a child has to use fine motor skills to pick up pieces with tongs) are great—don’t be afraid to change your games or use them differently to make them more effective therapy tools! Fun books More unique items often have higher reinforcement value

If a session is not accurate to what occurred, should you still convert?
NO! If there are any changes to your sessions, such as a time change or cancellation, you will need to contact your Scheduler and the Program Supervisor on the case. • Text if given less than 24 hours’ notice • Send a Central Reach message if given more than 24 hours’ notice You will then need to convert your session once the modification has been made

What does it mean to be a mandated reporter?
 As a CSD employee, you are a mandated reporter  Mandated reporters, by law, must report reasonable suspicions of abuse or neglect to Child Protective Services (CPS).  What does “reasonable suspicion” mean?  If you have reasonable suspicion of abuse or neglect, you must report to CPS within 24 hours.  Contact your supervisor immediately for support  You are still mandated to report even if you have told your supervisor

What is pairing?
Before we begin teaching, we want to pair ourselves (our behavior) with our clients’ reinforcers As we deliver our clients’ reinforcers consistently while interacting with them, WE also become reinforcers for our clients When we become ‘the best toy in the room’ we are more effective teachers!

Define coping skills.
Coping skills are strategies a person uses to deal with stressful, difficult or challenging situations. This can include dealing with strong emotions, such as fear, anxiety, sadness, anger and excitement. • In other words, the strategies we use to keep ourselves calm, alert & focused

What do you do if you are sick?
Inform the parents of any session you need to cancel, your direct supervisor, program supervisor of any session cancelled, and scheduling (Christine Pierce). Then request sick time on paycom

Who should pick activities during a session in which you have been working with the client for awhile and have established a positive relationship?
Both! Alternate choosing what to do, child is reinforced by participating in your choice by getting to make the next choice! Enforce this contingency and remind the child of expectations, if they won’t participate in your choice, they don’t get their choice later!

How long do you have to make up a session?
Sessions must be made up in the week in which the original session was canceled if the client is receiving full authorized hours each week. If the client is not receiving full authorized hours you may make up the session within 30 days of the original canceled appointment as long as you do not exceed the authorized hours in a given week.

How do behavior specialist request time off?
Fill out a time off request form (2 weeks in advance complete with a make up plan included), and send to scheduling (Christine Pierce), your direct supervisor, and the program supervisor of any session that will be affected

What are some difficult-to-answer questions that parents have asked you or that you feel may be asked about treatment, about yourself, or about their kids?
First resource is always your Program Supervisor. Refer any question that is difficult to answer to your supervisor! Be kind, polite, patient, understanding and above all--professional. Having a child on the spectrum is stressful and scary. Don't take things personally.
