What is culture?
The process of and ideology surrounding the migration to and settlement of lands already occupied by Indigenous peoples through the use of violence, systemic racism and forced cultural assimilation

The ability to collaborate with or provide care for individuals from different cultures in a variety of settings

The establishment, maintenance, and perpetuation of power imbalances, systemic barriers, and inequitable outcomes that stem from colonial practices in Canada
What is anti-Indigenous racism?
The process of self-exploration, self-critique, and the willingness to learn and adapt
What is cultural humility?
A fixed image or set of characteristics that many people believe represents a type of person, culture, or object
What is a stereotype?
Appreciation for the values and aspects of a cultural, ethnic, or racial group that is not your own and having a willingness to adapt your behaviour
What is cultural sensitivity?
The recognition of one's own cultural influences upon values, beliefs, and judgements.
What is cultural self-awareness?
Being conscious and observant of similarities and differences among and between cultural groups
What is cultural awareness?
An outcome based on respect that recognizes and aims to address systemic power imbalances in healthcare; an environment free of racism and discrimination
