In written communication, it is important that people understand you. What can you ensure you do in written communication to show people you care that they understand you?
Have correct spelling, correct punctuation, correct capitalization, white space.

I rarely see my supervisor and do not have a lot of opportunities to talk with them – what should I do?
Reach out to your supervisor and inquire about their availability. If they are busy you may need to talk about creating a designated supervision time or identify together other knowledgeable staff who could support you in lieu of your supervisor when they are not around.

Debriefing with colleagues, setting boundaries, belief in your ability to make change, having a say in decision making.
Which of the following situations MAY result in a new placement site?
A. You quit your placement.
B. Your placement site closes down.
C. You have a conflict at your placement site.
D. You are fired from your placement.

If A or D happen (quit/fired), you will fail.
If C happens (conflict) - review the dispute resolution guideline, and problem solve!
My placement supervisor asked me to stay downstairs with a youth who is finishing their homework, while her and another coworker do an activity upstairs with the other youth. What should I do?
Communicate that you are NOT allowed to be alone with youth during your placement in any circumstance. Approach with a helpful attitude.
Offer a solution - a paid staff member stays downstairs with the youth while you help with the activity; the youth finishes their homework upstairs nearby so you're all in the same place, etc.

People Watching/Observing Communication is helpful in a work place. What are some of the benefits?
It shows you what motivated people to say something, how the other person reacted, if needs were met, if the conversations could have gone better, patterns, baseline of communication, what to do/not to do.

I have to make up hours at my site. My supervisor is unable to give me more youth hours, and asked me to complete a special project instead to make up these hours.
What should I do to make sure it counts for my hours and is relevant?
Ask your supervisor what they have in mind, and discuss how the project is relevant to your learning. Ensure that you inform your coach and instructor. You should complete a report about your special project, and share it with your instructor, supervisor, and coach. Your supervisor needs to verify how many hours will be counted towards this project.
