What are cells?
The smallest living thing and the building blocks of life.
What is the function of the heart? (What is the heart's job)
To pump blood (with oxygen and nutrients) around the body so nutrients and oxygen can be delivered to the cells, tissues and organs.
What is the function of the respiratory system.
To get oxygen into the blood and remove the carbon dioxide.
Describe a pattern in data. Give an example.
Pattern is repeating shape in data. Temperature during the seasons is a pattern. Warm in summer, cooler in winter and it repeats.
What are the 2 main types of cells?
The heart and blood vessels.
What specific structure does gas exchange occur?
Alveoli (air sacs)
Describe what a trend is?
When data has a steady increase over time or steady decrease over time.
Describe what an organelle is?
Organelle is the sub structures inside of a cell that help it do its job.
Draw the flow of blood through the heart. Show the path for oxygenated and deoxygenated blood.
Teacher and class to check if correct.
Draw a diagram to show the flow of air in and out of the respiratory system.
Teacher and students to check
Explain what a relationship is?
When 2 different sets of data are connected in some way. Example: When 1 changes, so does the other.
List 4 organelles found in a plant cell.
Chloroplasts, Mitochondria, Cell Membrane, Cell Wall
Valves: Keep blood in one-direction so there is no backflow.
Thicker muscle: Generate more force to push blood out of heart to the rest of the body.
Diaphragm helps with contraction and expansion.
When the diaphragm relaxes it pulls down and the lungs can expand. When the diaphragm contract it pushes up and contracts the lungs to push the air out.
Give an example of 2 pieces of data and explain whether there is a relationship or not.
Teacher and students to decide.
Explain the function (role) of 4 different organelles.
Cell Membrane: controls what enters and exits the cell.
Mitochondria: Converts food into useable energy.
Cell Wall: Supports the cells shape.
Chloroplasts: absorb sunlight for the process of photosynthesis
Label the structures of the heart. 50 point per correct label.
Teacher and class to check.
-Sticky black mucus: prevent amount of air entering.
-mucus build-up in alveoli: prevent amount of surface -available for gas exchange.
-inflamed lung tissue (prevents ability to contract and expand)
Draw a graph that has 2 sets of data that are related. Must include everything needed for a graph and have a relationship.
Teacher and students to decide.
