After the alien zaps Miles’s dad, he gets back up quickly, which means they didn’t seriously hurt him. Then, the alien tells Miles that his dad will be okay, showing it doesn’t mean to cause harm. The alien also says they should both control their kids so the adults can talk and the alien suggests that the kids can play.
