Increased risk for preterm delivery (early delivery), preeclampsia (high BP), macrosomia, shoulder dystocia, intrauterine fetal demise, fetal growth restriction, cardiac and renal malformations, in addition to rare neural conditions such as sacral agenesis.

Yes! Your body releases hormones while you sleep that are important in blood glucose regulation. Not getting adequate sleep or sleeping at irregular hours can cause dramatic fluctuations in blood sugars.

Professoors can be your friend! Advocate for yourself beacuse if you have a low in the middle of an exam or need to test during class, life will be much easier if the professor knows in advance that something like that may happen.

How long can you be on your parent's insurance? How can you get insurance if you don't have it through your parents? 

- If your parent's insurance plan covers children, you can be added or kept on the policy until you turn 26 years old.

- If you do not have insurance through your parents, most universities offer some form of insurance that you can pay for.

Although it does not burn as many calories as we might hope, doing the deed has some parallels with exercise. What might happen to your BGs while you're getting cracked? What precautions should you take before or during the no pants dance?

You might have a low! Be sure to have treatments nearby (i.e. glucose tabs or juice) and it would probably be good for your partner or sneaky link to know you have diabetes...

You know that smoking is bad for you, but what is the harm in vaping? It's healthier right?

Vaping can lead to increased glucose levels. Most e-cigarettes contain nicotine- the addictivedrug in regular cigarettes. Nictotine can harm the developing brain. The brain keeps developing until about age 25. Using Nicotine in adolescence may also increase risk for future addiction to other drugs.

What do high fat meals do to your BG and why? How can you manage the effects of a high fat meal?

Higher fat meals tend to raise BG later but may result in lows earlier. This is due to fat slowing the absorption of carbs in the gut. As a result, your insulin absorption does not match your glucose absorption.

This varies depending on the center, be sure to check the hours of your neaserest urgent care . If the situation is life threatening call 911! Emergencey Rooms are open 24 hours.

Before you give yourself insulin for your meal, you tell your date that you have diabetes and that is why you have to take insulin. Your date says, "I know what diabetes is, my grandma has it too." - Schools are required to have a Student Disabilities Office that can offer assistance and aid in the event of emergencies during class. Research where to find this on your campus.
