What is Boxing Day?

• Boxing day is a major holiday in many countries throughout the world celebrated on December 26th and is often regarded as “Second Christmas”. While the origins are debated, it is thought that this was the historical servant’s Christmas celebration, as most servants worked Christmas day and were given December 26th off to celebrate with their own families. On Boxing Day, Masters often gifted servants too (a tradition that also dates back to the Roman week long celebration of Saturnalia).
