What did Daniel request to eat instead of the king's meat and wine?

Statue of King Nebuchadnezzar, stone broke it, the pieces went away, and then the stone grew and filled the earth
Why were they cast into the furnace?
Because they did not worship idols (v. 10-11, 13-15, 18)
Why was Daniel cast into the lion's den?
He was caught praying (6:7, 10-11)
What specific blessings did Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego receive for not eating the king's meat? (1:3-20)
V. 17 – God gave them knowledge and skill in all learning and wisdom; Daniel had understanding in all visions and dreams
V. 20 – They were 10x better than all the magicians and astrologers in the king's realm
What does the stone represent in the dream?
The latter-day kingdom of God
How was it possible that they were not harmed by the fire?
They exercised their faith AND Christ was there to protect them (v. 17, 25, 27)
How did King Darius react to Daniel being thrown in the lion's den?
V. 16 – the king had faith that God would deliver Daniel

V. 18-21 – health, wisdom, knowledge, have energy, the destroying angel will pass by
Explain the meaning of the king's dream and the phrase "without hands" (2:44-45)
Other kingdoms will break and fall, but God's will last forever; "without hands" = God builds His kingdom through miracles
What three things can we learn from this miracle?
1. Jesus is always with us even in hard times
2. Jesus has the power to protect us
3. We should do what's right even under pressure
Why would it have been hard to be faithful in this situation? AND share a personal story of when it was hard to have faith.
He was being obedient and praying and being righteous and he got thrown into a den of lions!
