The United Nations is an intergovernmental organization seen as a global way to bring about peace and understanding amongst nations, especially during times of war. The United Nations was actually founded by President Roosevelt. Some consider this ironic, because the United States has instigated and caused some of the most horrible wars in the world. When the United Nations formed, a Security Council was made, which are made of five permanent seats (the "P5"). This is the year that the United Nations was founded.
