What is our program

Day care for children

100

Why would it need to be funded?

Because working parents can not benefit our economy by working if they never have a safe environment to put their children.

100

Should our program be controlled by a public or private sector?

We believe that the majority of the childcare services should be public but there should be options for private.

100

What values are we expressing through believing in a more public sector?

Common good, but also including competition and ensuring that no one feels that they don’t have anywhere safe to have their child if they want to work and help the economy.

200

Who uses our program?

Working parents with young children

200

What level of government funds our social service?

It is funded by federal and provincial government, some provinces fund it more than others.

200

Why do we believe this?

This gives working parents that can not afford all daycare the opportunity to ensure their child is well cared for in a happy, safe, environment.

200

What opposing arguments might exist against our decision?

Some people may think that there should be other options to go to before childcare.

Others may think that if they are having a child they should be able to work without worrying about where their kids will go.

300

Who is it available to?

Parents that can afford it

300

To what extent is it funded?

There was not much information easily found, but there is a newly instated program in certain cities that funds daycare to make it only $25 a day for working parents, so that the prices are not unpayable.

300

Will this help innovation, competition, regulations, and accessibility?

This gives options for competition, accessibility, and new innovation because of the public and privately offered day care, so that parents can choose and companies want more business.

300

Where would we fall on the economic spectrum?

Mixed, but slightly more to the left because we are more about the group over the individualism because we believe that its more important to take care of the children with working parents than to support competition within businesses because then it may hurt families and the economy.
