Name what is wrong with this body paragraph using your Causes of the Civil War packet... There were political issues that led to the Civil War. One political issue was the Compromise of 1850. Under the Compromise of 1850, new western territitories used popular sovereignty to decide the slavery issue. Popular sovereignty is letting the people decide if they want slavery where they live. This made the North upset because they believed all new western territories should not have slavery. Also under the Compromise of 1850, California was admitted to the United States as a Free State. This angered the South because the North now has one more state in government that is free instead of slave. Therefore, although the Compromise of 1850 attempted to ease tension between the North and South, it really just created more problems between the 2 regions in the 1850's because either side did not feel they were equally represented in government.
