Describe the 'Indian Removal Act of 1830'. 

The Indian Removal Act of 1830 was a law signed by 7th President Andrew Jackson calling for the forced removal of all Native Americans from their home villages to territories west of the Mississippi River.

It resulted in tens of thousands of deaths due to sickness, exhaustion, and exposure to the elements. Native Americans began calling the event the 'Trail of Tears' because it was such a deadly journey.

The Attack on Fort Sumter was significant because it was the first battle of the Civil War and it started the Civil War.

Napolean of France was too distracted by the war in Europe that he sold the large territory of Louisiana to Thomas Jefferson for 15 million dollars.

The country of Spain had no money or manpower after the Napoleonic Wars and therefore could not control the Native Americans revolting in the territory of Florida, so they sold it to James Monroe for 5 million dollars.

In all, the Napoleonic Wars caused America to gain more territory because the countries claiming the territories were either too distracted or too destroyed.

Westward Expansion was a cause of the Civil War because when new territories would apply for statehood they would either have to be admitted as a slave state or a free state. This would cause arguments in Congress because no one could agree.
