Inappropriate vs Appropriate Behaviors
When you are playing a game with a friend and their turn isn't what you wanted so you yell at them.
Inappropriate. Playing games with friends you need to treat them the way you want to be treated. It's okay to be upset things aren't going your way, but its not okay to take it out on your friend.
You see your teacher at the store? What do you do?
You can wave, say hi, ask how they are doing. You know this person so its okay for you to talk to them when you see them outside of school.
Your teacher asks you for your address.
Act it out in a way where he feels comfortable giving the address. She may need it to send reports or something.

You don't want to play charades with someone. What can you ask?
Can we play a different game, can we play away from other people, can you play for a short bit and pick something else.
You don't like how someone is playing the game you are playing together. You ask them if they can play it a different way.
Appropriate. Sometimes you may want to try things that are more familiar and easy for you to understand. Its okay to ask. If they don't want to try, you can choose to play their way or find something else to play.
A kid you don't know very well but is in your class asks if you want to play. What do you do?
You can try playing with them. This is a great way to make friends.
Someone knocks on the door and says their dog ran into the backyard. Act out what to say.
Who do you talk to when you need help?
Community helpers: teachers, police, store employees, therapists, etc
The work your teacher asked you to do is really hard. What can you ask?
Can you do less problems, can you spend less time on it and get a break? Can you have more time? Can you do different work first?
You want someone's attention in front of you at school so you start poking them with a pencil.
Inappropriate. You will get in trouble at school because you are not following rules and respecting someone's space.
Your Mom asks you to stop playing on the IPAD and do some chores. What is something you should NOT do? Why?
Yell, ignore, tell her no, lie and say you already did it, keep playing IPAD. It is important to do things adults we know tell us to do because they are telling us to do things that help us.
Act out what you would say/do if a kid wants to trade lunches.
Don't trade lunches. You gotta eat your own food. Use kind words and actions.
Who do you let into your house?

Your Mom wants you to play games with your brother and you don't feel like it. What can you ask?
Can you play games later? Can you do something else together instead? (like watch TV, go outside, etc)
Someone tells you no and that makes you mad. You start yelling and you go to push them.
Inappropriate. It's not nice and it's not something you would want done to you. Its okay to be upset but we don't touch other people. If you need help you can ask for an adult.
You are at the house and a police officer is at the door. They ask to come inside the house. What do you do?
Tell them you need to get your parents. You should never let anyone inside your house.
You are outside playing and someone walks up to you and asks if you can get them some water. Act out what you say/do next?
Go inside and tell your parents. You can tell the person to hold on one second. Make sure you don't get to close to them and they don't follow you up to the house.

Your teacher wants you to read 5 pages out loud and you don't want to. How would you negotiate?
Ask to read less pages, ask to read something different, ask to read later
You hit someone on the bus because you were frustrated you weren't getting your way.
Inappropriate. Its not okay to put hands on someone. You will get in trouble. You wouldn't like it if someone did this to you.
There is a boy in your class who says something that upsets you. What is something you DO NOT do?
Yell at them, call them names, push them. Its not appropriate.
You can't find your Mom in the store and employee comes up to you and asks if you are okay.
Act out that they need help, they can go with the employee but they do not leave the store with them.

Read a specific number of pages, read for a shorter amount of time. Read a specific book, listen to a book.
