A Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) happens when a sudden external force—such as a fall, car or bicycle accident, sports injury, or blow to the head—causes damage to the brain. These injuries can range from mild (like a concussion) to severe, and they can affect how a person thinks, learns, and behaves.
