What are the types of statuses for a dependent?
Ppt called in since their spouse lost coverage elsewhere and the spouse covered the children on the spouse’s benefits. Ppt wants to add their dependents onto their coverage. What documentation is needed for this?
We will need the documentation for the QLE and documentation for each dependent being added.
This will typically be a birth certificate or marriage certificate but always check the TipSheet.
Why do we do dependent verification?
We conduct one-time dependent audits. Occasionally, employers audit their entire population. Every employee is asked to provide supporting documentation to verify the relationships between an employee and their dependents.
What do Veolia, EmployBridge, LA Care, NOV, and MCW have in common?
They don't pend elections. Supporting documentation is still required.
What kind of documentation is needed for a denied spouse?
Nothing. The time frame to submit documentation has passed.
Ppt called in and wanted to know if we got the documentation for their dependent. You looked under the “Saved Docs” and it is not there. What should you do?
Assist them with logging into MBE and uploading the documentation again. We will be able to see it in real-time under "Saved Docs".
How can a ppt submit their documents for their dependents?
For Dependent Audits, participants can upload their supporting documentation to MBE. Check the TipSheet for website/login information.
Do clients allow domestic partner coverage?
Some clients allow domestic partners. Always check the TipSheet.
What does “Documentation received and pending” mean?
We have received the documentation and it is being reviewed.
Ppt called in and stated that their documentation was uploaded but they don't have coverage yet. Why would this be?
We may still be within the 3-5 business day timing to review the documentation. Once everything is approved, it also takes 7-10 business days to update the carriers.
Ppt received an email about insufficient documentation. Where can you locate this?
This will be in MBE located under the “Personal Info” tab then the “Communications” subtab.
You will then be able to see the email and the reason it was sent.
We can also look under the User Contacts and Quick Look to check additional notes or the verification status.
A UCMC ppt calls in and asks what type of documentation is needed for their verification. What should we advise?
We do not do dependent verification for UCMC.
Ppt calls in stating that they received an email from us. The email states they need to contact us to update their DOB for their dependent. Why would this be?
The DOB on the birth certificate does not match what is in the system for the dependent.
How does a ppt send in documentation?
Upload directly onto the account in MBE.
Where in MBE can you locate if the ppt submitted their documents?
This will be in the “Personal Info” tab then the “Saved Docs” subtab.
A COD ppt calls in and wants an email address to email their documentation to. What email address do you provide?
COD does not submit their documents to us. Documentation is submitted to the BAO or by uploading. Never provide our email address.
What does verified mean?
Verification is complete. No further documents are needed for their dependents. If they have a QLE opened, documentation may still be required to process the QLE.
The ppt calls in and states that they missed the time frame to submit documentation. They noticed this since they received a denial email. You advise them at this time no exception can be made and they will need to wait for AE. Ppt now wants to appeal. What do you advise?
