What is Student Workshops?
Student workshops are free, three-day workshops that are offered weekly. Each workshop is delivered in the OLS (new student orientations) environment — mirroring the look and feel of a class — where students work through a set of required activities (receiving a Certificate of Completion for successful completion of all activities). Each workshop is facilitated and graded by a seasoned faculty member. The student workshops are non-credit.

What is the Life Resource Center?
The Life Resource Center (LRC) provides free, confidential 24/7 online and telephonic support through a variety of services. Trained work-life consultants are available around-the-clock by phone or internet to provide information, resources and referrals for a wide spectrum of matters. The Online Counseling Center allows students to start an instant counseling session with an available counselor. It is a safe and secure way for students to receive short-term counseling (up to three sessions per incident) on issues including managing stress, school, work or life issues, relationship issues, family concerns, anxiety, depression, grief, loss or trauma.

Alumni Association programs are presented to alumni free of charge; there is never a membership fee.

How does the Mentor Program benefit the student?
Students can request an alumni mentor at any time throughout their degree program, providing an opportunity to connect with the vast alumni network and gain informal career guidance from someone who has walked in their shoes.

1. Allows students to connect with others based on academic, social and professional interests. 2. Complements the classroom experience by providing students quick access to the information they need from the University's online community. 3. Expands each student’s learning network from the 15-person classroom to the entire community of more than 800,000.

How do student workshops benefit the student?
Students benefit in terms of preparation, knowledge discovery and skills attainment. Students take student workshops for reasons that span gaining exposure and familiarity with OLS to just-in-time course support or skills and/or knowledge attainment.

How does the LRC benefit the student?
Work-life consultants are available to assist students who reach out for support. Counselors are provided free of charge and students are able to meet with counselors over the phone or in person with someone in their area. The LRC also has an array of online tools including articles, skill builders, assessments and other resources to support student needs

What is the education to careers connection with student workshops?
A Career Exploration workshop is offered to students to examine and apply job searching skills, tools and services. This workshop prepares participants to conduct successful job searches and explore career opportunities. Participants explore online job placement resources, research job availability and write effective resumés and cover letters.

Life coaches are available to assist students with career coaching, time-management skills, and work-life balance. LRC is an additional service provided to students to assist with career transition and career development questions.
