Where should we be noting health findings or concerns?
Gingr profile - two different types of note (daycare health note & boarding health note)
What should you be looking at before an eval?
Gingr profile - icons & additional notes
Crazy runner in the pool yard after the pup dips it's toes for the first time. One dog is chasing them in a playful way & neither are getting over-stimulated. Is this behavior unsafe/inappropriate/unmanageable or safe/manageable?
Safe/manageable! Let them run & get that energy out :)
Who should you tell about daycare health notes? What about boarding?
Daycare - Front lead - they are responsible for passing along notes to owners
Boarding - documented in Gingr (matting, isolated loose stool/tummy issues, etc.) more serious that require attention pass along to manager to ensure we update med notes & front to reach out to owners if needed (torn paw pads, continued tummy issues for multiple days, hot spots, etc.)
What is the DA's role during & after an eval?
Help with initial 1:1 intros
Ensure yard is appropriately managed to ensure a controlled introduction to the group (keeping pushy dogs at bay, etc.)
Once BL out of yard continue to interact with the eval, give updates & take photos!
Anxious dog barking and pawing at the gate when they see multiple cars and people in the parking lot. DA is struggling to get the correct dogs into the run because of the anxious dog. Is this behavior unsafe/inappropriate/unmanageable or safe/manageable? What would you do to help your DA?
This is a frustrating, but manageable behavior. Remind your DA to take the time to clear out the gate area and if they do need to crate the anxious dog for a couple minutes they can.
If you see this on a boarding dog, what would you do?
Document in Gingr (note & photo), let manager know so we can find a solution (reach out to owners to add med to use mushers on the pup's nose)
Your small dog eval is suddenly very anxious because their owner is at the fence calling it's name. The pup is super sweet, showing no reactivity & was interested in the group before they heard their owner. How would you handle this?
Leave the yard to go give the owner the all clear to head out, explain the pup did great and is most likely confused after seeing & hearing them. Reassure them all is well and try to get them on their way so we can see how the pup settles in!
A dog has started barking consistently at the fence around 4pm, they were playing well earlier in the day but their best friend just left. Yards are settled otherwise but the DA who started their shift at 3pm is ignoring the barking and wants to pull the dog for a break because they won't stop. Is this behavior unsafe/inappropriate/unmanageable or safe/manageable? How would you handle?
Give suggestions or maybe move pups around to find a friend. Remind DA the pup was playful earlier and is probably just bored now that their friend left!
You find a small puncture on daycare pup who has not been involved in any altercations, but has been super playful with some younger puppies. What do you do?
Document in Gingr, pass along to front staff & clean when there is time (not urgent/emergency)
You have a 9 month old lab who has never been to daycare or any off-leash setting. She is extremely friendly & not overly pushy, just loves to run & doesn't have great recall. What would you tell the owner before they head out?
Having a blast already! (focus on her having fun & not being nervous) Best to not mention her lack of recall, she's never been in a setting like this where recall is needed (also not a big concern as she is not being pushy or getting overwhelmed)

An older Aussie has started to herd and nip ankles of any dog who gets excited near them. If the yards are calm they are calm, but if there is movement nearby they will make a point to try to herd the dogs involved. Is this behavior unsafe/inappropriate/unmanageable or safe/manageable?
Unsafe & unmanageable! Cannot guarantee a calm environment and if the dog is going out of it's way to make contact with pups that is a concern that should be passed along to manager right away!
After close in the boarding room you notice a dog has a slightly runny nose, then they start coughing pretty consistently and seem a little more lethargic than usual. What would you do?
Check profile for previous notes from their stay, separate the dog into an iso area, reach out to on-call manager to let them know about the situation & be sure overnighter is looped in as well when they come in!
You have an eval who seems a little overwhelmed and nervous on a very energetic & chaotic day. They are great with handling & gravitate towards staff, were polite & curious during the 1:1s, but are showing some signs of being uncomfortable with the pushier dogs who are getting in their face during the initial eval in the pool yard. They have not snapped at any dogs, but shy and cower away trying to avoid the others instigating play. What would you tell the owners?
Positives - they like staff and come to us for comfort, are just trying to avoid the high energy and seem a bit nervous. Hoping they settle in and acclimate as the day goes on, we will make sure they are not getting overwhelmed by the other pups. Will want to avoid using language like 'crazy day' or 'pushy dogs' when giving feedback
A younger Golden has started jumping on other dogs in the pool. This is the first time we've seen the behavior and the dog has been a regular for the past 4 months without issue, does well otherwise with any group in any yard. Is this behavior unsafe/inappropriate/unmanageable or safe/manageable?
While the behavior of jumping on dogs is extremely unsafe, this is a manageable behavior since we have the option to keep the pup out of the pool!
