Plane dividing the body into dorsal vs. ventral halves, or sections of the body into proximal and distal halves.
What is the frontal plane?
The frontal region of a part of the body.
What is anterior?
A limb far from the body.
What is distal?
Having to do with the nose and mouth area.
What is rostral?
Plane dividing the body into equal, symmetrical halves, or down the spine.
What is the median plane?
The rear or back region of a part of the body.
What is posterior?
A limb close to the body.
What is proximal?
At or near the tail or tailbone.
What is caudal?
A superficial plane on the backside of an animal.
What is dorsal?
A region of the body below the superficial surface.
What is deep?
The top side of the foot.
What is volar?
At or near the head.
What is cranial?
A superficial plane on the underside of an animal.
The outside of the body.
What is superficial?
The bottom or underside of the foot.
What is plantar?
A plane dividing the body asymmetrically.
