Least Restrictive Environment.  States are required to provide a free and appropriate in a LRE for students who are on IEP.

Describe the difference between and IEP and a 504 plan. 

An IEP is funded by the government through IDEA.  A student must qualify under one more of the 13 categories of eligibility. An IEP drives the required "specialized Instruction", related services, accommodations and modification.  An IEP terminates at graduation.

504 is human rights and addresses accommodations and support required when a disability interrupts learning. 504 is recognized at post secondary programs and educational institutions.

Same process as if a teacher requests:

Document concern, provide intervention (document data), in no progress refer for testing.  Cognitive and Academic testing is always conducted other testing and evaluations based on other areas of concern.
