General Communication
The main form of communication you should use.
What is School Email?
"The majority of communication, outside of class, will be through school email accounts. Students should log into their school email at regular intervals throughout the day. Most importantly, students need to check their email every morning before advisory to look for updates from teachers and/or the school." (p.1)
This is the web based application where you can see your grades and assignments.
What is Blackbaud?
"Students and parents can use Blackbaud to see the assignment calendar and student grades." (p.1)
During a class period, this needs to be on at all times unless instructed by the teacher.
What is the camera on my device?
"Leave your camera on at all times unless otherwise instructed by the teacher. Ensure your stop video background is neutral and non-distracting for when you do turn off your camera." (p.3)
Your Zoom screen name must include these three things --even if your name is Nick.
What is first name, last name, and grade?
"Create your ZOOM ID with your name (not a nickname): FIRST NAME LAST NAME GRADE "(p.3)

Teachers may assign "homework" to be done outside of class during Distance Learning.

Although assignments will be in Blackbaud, teachers will also use this web based application to push out assignments and materials.

"Teachers utilize Google Classroom to facilitate the workflow of digital materials. Students should check Google Classroom for handouts, readings, links, assignment instructions, etc. Additionally, many teachers will return work with feedback and grades in Google Classroom. Teachers will occasionally message the parents of their students."(p.1)

Red and Gold Schedules refer to schedule unit lengths. This is how long a schedule unit lasts.
What is 5-6 weeks? (Roughly)

Because technology can be unpredictable, families and students are strongly encouraged to do this if they are having technical difficulties.
What is email or call the teacher?
"To acknowledge the complexities and inequities that can exist when learning from home, students and families are strongly encouraged to reach out to their teachers and/or advisors in order to discuss difficult circumstances that might inhibit learning." (p.2)
This is what you should and (optionally) should not be wearing in a Zoom class. Although, Mr. Jones is a fan of the optional and wouldn't mind seeing it.
What is a school blue shirt and a tie?
"Students are required to adhere to the guidelines outlined in the Student and Family Handbook and the technology Acceptable Use Policy." (p.3)

During Distance Learning, we expect students to adhere to the this set of guidelines just as they would if we were on campus. Students must complete their academic work without any additional aid, unless explicitly permitted by a teacher.
What is the Cathedral School Honor Code?
"During Distance Learning, we expect students to adhere to the Cathedral School Honor Code just as they would if we were on campus." (p.2)
These should be saved for breaks between classes and not come out during class.
What are snacks?
"Do not eat during your classroom sessions.
When you miss school/class because of an illness or excused absence, you have this much time to make up missed work.
What is the number of days missed?
"When a student misses school because of approved absences or illness, he has a period of time equal to the days missed to make up the work."(p.2)
