What are the steps of dividing decimals when using a model?

Use 2.4÷0.8 to help you explain your steps!

1. I would draw 3 one hundred box grids.

2. I would fill in 2 full hundred grids and 4 of the tens in the third grid because I have two and four tenths.

3. Then I would count by 8 tenths to solve the division problem because I am dividing by 8 tenths.

4. Once I have counted by 8 tenths, I can see that I was able to divide 2 and 4 tenths by 8 tenths 3 times. So, 2.4 ÷ 0.8=3.
