Tell the story Mr Enfiled tells Mr Utterson.

One day Mr Enfield was coming home on a black winter morning when he suddenly saw two people. The first was a short man who was walking along the street, and the second was a little girl who was running as fast as she could. So the two bumped into each other and the child fell down. Then a terrible thing happened. The man calmly walked all over the child's body with his heavy boots, and left her screaming on the ground. It was an inhuman thing to do.

What was Me Utterson determined to do? 

He was determined to meet Mr Hyde. So he waited patiently near the mysterious door. Suddenly, he saw Mr Hyde and talked to him. Mr Hyde gave him his address and told him that he may need it some day (he was clearly referring to Dr Jekyll's will)

How was Dr Jekyll? Was he protecting Mr Hyde?

Later that same afternon Mr Utterson visited his friend Dr Jekyll. It was the first time he had seen his laboratory. He went upstairs to his study. Dr Jekyll looked white and ill. They talked about Mr Carew's case. Mr Utterson wanted to know if Dr Jekyll was trying to hide the murderer. Jekyll promised that he would never see Mr Hyde again.

Was Mr Hyde seen again? Was Dr Jekyll better? 

Time passed, the search for Mr Hyde continued but there was no sign of him. As for Dr Jekyll, he looked calmer and happier. He became sociable again. He invited friends to his house and accepted invitations to theirs.

What is inside the envelope?

After some weeks Dr Lanyon died. After his friend's burial, Mr Utterson received an envelope. He opened it and inside there was another envelope that said 'Not to be opened until the death or disappearance of Dr Jekyll'. The lawyer couldn't believe his eyes. 'Death or disappearance' the words were the same as in Dr Jekyll's will. He was a very honest man. He knew he had to obey his friend's and client's words.

What did Mr Enfield do after the horrible incident between the man and the little girl?

He ran after the man, caught him and fetched him back. There was already a crowd. The man gave him an evil look. He didn't like the man at all. Then the child's family and a doctor arrived. Luckily, the child was more frightened than hurt. The doctor and Mr Enfield convinced the evil man to pay a hundred pounds for the child's family, as an act of compensation.

What did Mr Utterson do right after Mr Hyde entered the mysterious door?

He went to Dr Jekyll's house. His servant answered and told him that Dr Jekyll wasn't at home. Mr Utterson told Poole (the servant) that he had seen Mr Hyde enter the house by the laboratory door in the street at the back of the house. Poole told him that Mr Hyde had his own key to the laboratory and could come and go when he liked.

Dr Jekyll received a letter, who wrote it? why?

Dr Jekyll received a letter written by Mr Hyde. He gave it to Mr Utterson because he wanted to preserve his reputation. In the letter Hyde said sorry for being ungrateful and said he could escape unharmed. Dr Jekyll told Mr Utterson that no postman had brought the letter, that it was delivered by hand.

What happened in January?

At first, Mr Utterson spent a lot of time at Dr Jekyll's house with many friends, until one day he refused to see visitors. Mr Utterson called again and again but he didn't have an answer.

Mr Utterson was desperately worried about Dr Jekyll, what did he do?

He called Dr Jekyll almost everyday but he refused to see him. So he talked to Poole. The servant said that Dr Jekyll spent all the time in the study above his laboratory and he even slept there. He added that something was worrying him, that he was silent and uneasy.

What did the Dr and Mr Enfield find out when they received the cheque?

The short evil man gave them ten pounds in gold and a cheque for ninety pounds. The name on the cheque was a well-known one. Mr Utterson was surprised to hear that his old frind Dr Jekyll had signed that cheque that was in the dirty hands of Mr Hyde.

What happened at Dr Jekyll's dinner party?

Mr Utterson told Dr Jekyll that he didn't agree with his will. He added that he knew something about his friend Hyde. Dr Jekyll told him that he was ina a difficult, painful situation, that it was a private matter and asked him to help Mr Hyde if something happened to himself.

Did the servant see the person who delivered the letter for Dr Jekyll?

Mr Utterson asked Poole about the letter. Poole said that nobody had come except the postman. But that letter had no postmark, so it couldn't be the postman who left it. Mr Utterson believed that someone must have left it through the laboratory door or even that the letter had been written inside the house.

Why did Mr Utterson visit Dr Lanyon? 

He visited Dr Lanyon because he felt lonely after being rejected by Dr Jekyll. When he saw Dr Lanyon, he was shocked by the change in the doctor's appearance. His face was grey and thin, and there was a frightened look in his eyes.

When Mr Utterson was walking with his friend Enfield, what were they talking about?

They were talking about the story behind the mysterious door. Enfield asked Mr Utterson why he hadn't told him that the door led to the laboratory at the back of Dr Jekyll's house. Mr Utterson told him that once he had seen Mr Hyde and he had the same strong fweelings of dislike Enfield had mentioned before.

What did Mr Utterson realise after hearing the story of Mr Hyde?

He read Dr Jekyll's will and realised that in his will he wanted to leave everything to Mr Hyde. Now that he knew that Mr Hyde was evil, he was worried about his friend Dr Jekyll.

What happened to Mr Danvers Carew?

One night a servant girl was sitting at her bedroom window and saw a tall old man coming along the street. There was a shorter, younger man in the street too. She recongnised him, it was Mr Hyde. The old man was asking the young man for some directions. Suddenly, Mr Hyde started hitting the old man with a stick, like a mad man. Then the girl began to feel ill and fainted. When she woke up, she could see the dead old man in the street. So she called the police.

Who is Mr guest? What did he discover?

Mr Guest is a lawyer and Mr Utterson's clerk. They have worked together for 10 years. Mr utterson talked about the Carew case with him. He showed Mr guest the letter Dr Jekyll had given him. He told him he had the letter of a murderer. So he was about to read the letter when a servant brought an invitaion to dinner from Dr Jekyll. Mr Guest realised that both the note and letter had the same handwriting.

What happened to Dr Lanyon? 

He said he had a shock that would cause his death. Mr Utterson mentioned that Dr Jekyll was ill too. Dr Lanyon's reaction was surprising. He asked Mr Utterson not to mention that name again and added it hurt him to think about Dr Jekyll. He told him that maybe one day he would learn the full story.

They went into Dr Jekyll's courtyard and looked up at his window. They saw Dr Jekyll and talked to him.

Dr Lanyon told Mr Utterson that he didn't share the scientific ideas with Dr Jekyll anymore. So they were not very close.

What did the police find in the crime scene? What did they do? Why was Mr Utterson involved?

They found a gold watch, a purse  and a letter addressed to Mr Utterson in the dead man's pockets. So Mr Utterson went to the police station. They had part of the murder weapon too. Mr Utterson recognised it immediately. It was Dr Jekyll's stick, he had given it to him some time before.Then, the police inspector and Mr Utterson went to Mr Hyde's house. He wasn't there but they found the other part of the murder weapon and a cheque book. Now Mr Hyde was wanted by the police.

He thought that Dr Jekyll had written the letter for a murderer (Mr Hyde). He feared for his old friend.

What did Mr Utterson do after visiting Lanyon?

He wrote a letter to Dr Jekyll and asked him why he refused to see him. Dr Jekyll answered back in a long and not always easy to understand letter. He told Mr Utterson that they must never meet again.

What was Dr Jekyll's reaction?

At first, he talked to them politely. So Mr Utterson introduced his cousin Enfield and invited him to join them for a walk. He thanked them but refused with a smile. He said he wasn't feeling well. Then Mr Utterson said they could talk through the window and suddenly Dr Jekyll's expression changed. He had an expression of hopelessness, fear and horror, as he shut the window with a bang. The two men were shocked.
