What is a CASE?

What is the CRITERION?
The period used for two opponents to ask and answer questions during a debate
What is Cross X?
using proper etiquette during a debate round
What is DECORUM?
The pro side
What is the AFFIRMATIVE?
A one sentence reason to vote for or against the debate topic
What is a CLAIM?
One or two words which describe the claim
What is a tag line or contention?
a written statement proposing a way to change an existing law or to add a new law
What is a CONGRESSIONAL BILL?
The Con side
What is the Negative?
Factual or philosophical support for the claim
What is EVIDENCE or a WARRANT?
The purpose of these speeches is to explain why the opponent's claims, warrants, or or impacts are wrong.
What are REBUTTAL SPEECHES?
the speech given to members of Congress in support of your proposal
What is an AUTHORSHIP SPEECH?
A topic released by the NSDA on the 1st of each month (or every other month) which determines the topic debated in that month.

An explanation of the way/s in which the claims matter in the real world
