A registrant wants to pick your brain about the school board candidates.  Can you offer any information about the positions of these candidates if you're sure to keep the information fact-based?

Feel free to refer all candidate or issue-based questions to Arizona Clean Elections.

You're volunteering as a DR with your precint committeeman.  At the end of the month, you have a huge fundraiser.

No one is currently registering to vote.  Is now a good time to plan the fundraiser?

No!  All partisan activities are to remain separate from DR volunteering, even if there's no one directly around the registration table.

You'd be surprised how much passers-by can hear when DRs are having conversations.

If someone wants to be given the option of voting by mail for every election, what should they check on their voter registration form?

"YES" in Section 1, asking about the Active Early Voting List (AEVL).

A new voter registers as "No Party."  This person can vote in every election except...

You're already late to an event, and you can't find parking.  You're feeling frustrated and frantic.  Should you just turn around and go home?

Please don't go home!  Because County employees cannot solicit voter registrations, DRs are crucial to our voter registration efforts.

Find a safe place to pull over and call the contact number of the person at the event.  They will help direct you to parking and get you to where you need to be.

(When there's a break in activity, maybe treat yourself to a lemonade to cheer up! :) )

• Voter instructions are posted in voting booths in English and Spanish.

• Tabulator screens are in English and Spanish.

You've signed up for AEVL, but you're going to be out of town for the Election.  You've already told the Post Office to forward your mail.  Is this all you have to do to receive your ballot?

No.  The Post Office does not forward any election mail: it gets returned to the County.

To make sure you get your ballot by mail, follow the link on BeBallotReady.vote to add a temporary mailing address.

What's wrong with this form?  How do you fix it?

Section 2 is illegible.  *POLITELY* advise the registrant to print clearly, using block letters.

If the registrant can't print clearly, as a last resort, the DR may print the name for the registrant.  In this case, the DR must sign the form in section 24.

A person voted by mail and their vote was counted.  But then they FORGOT! and filled out another ballot on Election Day in person.  What happens now?

Since their ballot by mail was counted, when they go vote in person they will be given a provisional ballot, and that provisional ballot will not count.

(If the first ballot by mail hadn't yet been received, the in-person ballot would be counted and the mail-in ballot would be voided.)

500

Can you use the information you've learned through the DR program to support outside partisan groups?

Absolutely!  While it is true that when acting as a DR, you are to remain strictly nonpartisan, the information we provide should be shared far and wide.

We know our DRs are a trusted source of information in their communities.  The more accurate voting-process-information disseminated, the better!

DRs can use the information and experience they've received to host their own voter registration events outside of Maricopa County sponsored events.

Native Health, located in Phoenix, is promoting voter registration among Native Americans in Arizona.  It is the first of its kind in the United States.  What simple question have they added to their patient check-in process?

"Would you like to register to vote?"

They then offer an iPad for electronic registration or a paper registration form for all who want to vote.

500

You're moving out of state and need to cancel your voter registration.  Is this something that can be done on BeBallotReady.vote?

No.  This is one of the few things that cannot be done on BeBallotReady.

You will need to download a voter registration cancellation form from the Recorder's website, fill it out, and return it by email or mail.  Digital signatures are not valid.
