Elements of Drama
The people or animals that are part of the play. They speak or act out parts.
What is actors?
The tools used to bring the play or drama to life. They may be small or moveable.
What are PROPS?
A statement about life or a message the playwright builds around the play.
What is theme?
This part of the plot diagram gives you background information, setting, and begins the story.
What is EXPOSITION?
The written instructions telling the actors what to do.
What is STAGE DIRECTIONS?
The person who wrote the play or author of the play.
What is a PLAYWRIGHT?
The playwright's technique for creating believable characters; can be direct or indirect.
What is characterization?
This part of the plot diagram is the most exciting and also the turning point of the story.
What is CLIMAX?
The conversation between the characters or actors.
What is DIALOGUE?
The person that gives the audience information about what is happening in the play.
What is a NARRATOR?
The internal or external struggle between opposing forces, ideas, or interest. This creates dramatic tension.
What is conflict?
The part of the story where the problem is solved.
What is RESOLUTION?
The action that takes place in a single SETTING.
What is a SCENE?
The text of the play, including the dialogue and stage directions of the play.

Where a play or drama is usually performed.
