What is an oxymoron?
I am a character that changes when faced with conflict.
What is a dynamic character?
I hint at details or events that will happen in the future of the story.
What is foreshadowing?
You look at me before you read. I help you identify who is in the piece you are going to read.
What is a cast of characters?
We are the words the characters speak in a play. Sometimes we are funny, sad, or scary.
What is dialogue?
An example of me is "The bee buzzed past my ear".
What is an onomatopoeia?
I am the most intense part of a story. When you analyze me and how I affect the story, I help you identify theme!
What is climax?
I am the time & place a story takes place in.
What is setting?
I am a performance representation of a story.
What is a play?
I tell the actors where and how to move.
What are stage directions?
An example of me is "Bouncing balloons blew away in the breeze".
What is alliteration?
When a character struggles with an inner issue. Usually a struggle within one's mind.
What is man v. self conflict?
I am when a character speaks to another character.
What is dialogue?
Often times you don’t see me. You will hear my voice. I give you background information, and explain what is happening in the play.
What is a narrator?
I am probably the most important person in a play’s life. Without me the play would not even be a thought.
What is a playwright?
An example of me is "I’ve told you a million times to clean your room".
What is a hyperbole?
I am the driving force behind a story. I move the story along to the conflict eventually being resolved.
What is plot?
When a character struggles with a social tradition, rule, or body of government.
What is man v. society?
We can be newspapers, cups, umbrellas, pencils, balls, notebooks, or anything else you can think of to make a play seem more realistic.
What are props?
Part of a play defined by elements such as rising action, climax, and resolution.
What is an act?
An example of me is "I've been on cloud nine all day!"
What is an idiom?
I am the mystery of the story! You read to find me out. To identify me, you must analyze plot, characters, and conflict. This is what you walk away with from analyzing a story.
What is theme?
I am a blast from the past! I make stories pause in the present and look back on a past event.
What is a flashback?
I am parts of a play broken up by location or time.
