Often made from the shoulder, these quick, fast sketches are done to capture movement
What is gesture drawing?
These pencils are the thicker and darker, often used for shading
What are B pencils?
From a French word for outline, these types of lines outline the edges of objects and everything within the object, without any shading
What is contour?
The space or area around an object in a drawing
What is negative space?
This element is used to depict shapes that are three-dimensional, such as spheres, cubes, or cylinders
What is form?
Making the same number of squares over an image or photo and transferring the image to the same size or larger squares on a drawing surface
What is grid drawing?
It can be made from vinyl, plastic, or kneaded rubber and is used to correct mistakes
What is an eraser?
This is the arrangement of all of the space when creating art
What is composition?
Darkening an area of a drawing or sketch
What is shading?
This element is the basic building block of all art. It is a mark made that is longer in length than it is in width

A way to draw that helps to focus your attention on the line direction and quality and less on the image while drawing

This is a handheld framed window that allows you to focus on a portion of a whole
What is a viewfinder?
The effect of perspective which causes objects further away from the observer to appear smaller
