Excessive alcohol intake can depress the central nervous system(CNS) so that a person may have a blackout (fail to maintain memory of the event) or pass out.

What is a possible result from an alcohol overdose?
When a person drinks too much they can pass out. This is the body’s way of protecting itself by not allowing the person to drink more. When someone drinks a lot of alcohol very quickly, they may not pass out in time and may drink enough to slip into a coma and die.
