What are Guides?
Panel used to apply different paragraph specifications (specs) conditions including: indents, space before, space after, and alignments

What is typography?
One example is change foreign spelling such as British English to US English throughout the document
What is find/change?
1 sheet with 4 pages printed on it, or groups of pages- in multiples of 4- for printing press efficiency
What is a signature?
Extra space around your page to allow for any artwork printing to the edge of the page.
What is bleed?
Guides set up in a document to show the number of columns on a page
What is a column grid?
Current font type technology, standard for both Mac and PCs. Has the most variables, like glyphs and fractions
What is Opentype?
One word on the last line of a paragraph?
What is a widow?
Page set-up or Pagination in an indesign document as they are to be viewed by the reader
What are reader spreads?
The suffix for a native indesign file.
What is .indd?
A grid for the web that contains many vertical sections, creating boxes for type and images to be placed and/or aligned.
What is a modular grid?

What is the page number?
Control the number of hyphens in your text
What are hyphenation settings?
The menu to set-up how text flows around an image frame or another text frame
What is a text wrap?
Object menu item to adjust how any content or image fills/fits a selected frame
What are Fit-to-frame tools?
In the paragraph panel, type aligned to both the left and right sides, but the last line can be any of these: left, right, centered, or full out.
What is justified type?
Often at the bottom of the page, a line of type usually including the publication name, page numbers, sections- appears on all or most pages
What is the footer?
One line of a paragraph (first or last), separated from the rest of the paragraph.
What is an Orphan?
All are variations of black. Each is used for a different situation.
What are Standard Black, Rich Black, Registration?
Panel to apply different type conditions such as: font, size, weight, color, and other conditions.
What is the Character panel?
Tool for creating uniform typographic formats which can applied to a document accurately over and over.
What is a paragraph style?
Term used for all of this info: Typeface and font name, pt size, leading of type, tracking, and alignment.
What is the type spec (specification)?
Under the Edit menu check and correct spelling for the entire document, or just a selected area
What is spell check?
In your Indesign window, you may see and red dot at the bottom center for your document- you can pull down the list and clean up each one of them before your document is ready to be finalized.
