Describe Spanish Colonialism. 

  Plantation farms, mostly sugar but also cotton and assorted foods, were started with the people forced to work as slaves.  When most of them died of Old World diseases the Spanish started buying slaves from Africa to do the work instead.  Priests of the traditional religions were killed, books were burned, and the Catholic religion was made a requirement.

Describe the life of Francisco Pizarro 

A military officer’s illegitimate son.  Poorly educated growing up in a poor region.  Followed in his fathers footsteps and joined the army and served under another conquistador.  Took part in the conquest of Central America.  Pizarro impressed his boss so he was made magistrate of the newly founded Panama City after they had finished conquering. Received permission to conquer the Inca.
