Earth's Layers
the outside layer of the Earth where we live. It is made of solid rock
Crust
a very hot layer because it gets lots of energy from the Sun. It is also where the northern lights happen.
The thermosphere
a very hot layer made of melted metals that move around like thick liquid.
outer core
the layer above the troposphere. It has the ozone layer that protects us from the Sun’s harmful rays.
The stratosphere
the thick layer of hot, soft rock found under the Earth’s crust.
The mantle
the highest layer of the atmosphere. It slowly fades into outer space.
The exosphere
the Earth’s deepest part. It is made of solid metal because it is under so much pressure.
The inner core
the layer of air closest to the Earth. It is where all our weather happens.
The troposphere
the middle layer of the atmosphere. This is where most meteors burn up when they enter the Earth’s air.
