A position in any solar system where life could be possible.
What is the habitable zone?
Basically the edges of the Pacific Ocean where most of Earth’s earthquakes and volcanoes are, all caused by convergence
What is the Ring of Fire?
The crust of the Earth under the ocean.
What is oceanic crust?
Natural features of the geosphere.
What are landforms?
A climate zone and the life within it.
What is a biome?
A galaxy with a bright center but also arms that spiral out from their centers.
What is a spiral galaxy?
The process of one tectonic plate moving under another.
What is subduction?
The sections of the Earths crust, which slowly move around separate from each other
What are tectonic plates?
An avalanche of dirt/mud, often due to high rains.
What is a landslide?
When animals eat too much of the grass in grasslands and the grass has trouble recovering.
What is overgrazing?
A spectacular light show produced by the Sun’s particles and space radiation hitting out magnetosphere.
What is an aurora? (maybe take "northern lights" too)
The process where tectonic plates are moving apart.
What is divergence?
Formed by magma (underground, slowly) OR lava (above ground, quickly).
What is igneous rock?
The combination of minerals, air, water, life (also called dirt or earth).
What is soil?
Learning about what other scientists have already discovered.
What is research?
A galaxy shaped like an egg and brightest at the center.
What is an elliptical galaxy?
Formed underground, at the top of Earth’s crust by loose rock, sand, and dirt slowly getting packed down by time and pressure (think layers!).
What are sedimentary rocks?
Where 2 tectonic plates are sliding next to each other, but not toward or away from each other.
What is transform?
Happens when a rock gets heated up from the sun and expands, cracking off just the top layer like onion peels
What is exfoliation?
Watching something closely, tracking it over time, and recording it.
What is observation?
All planets with a rocky solid surface
What is terrestrial?
Igneous OR sedimentary rock changed into another rock by time + temperature + chemical reactions.
What is metamorphic rock?
Inorganic crystal structures that come from nature (inorganic means was never part of an animal or plant).
What are minerals?
When eroded materials are dropped in a new place.
What is deposition?
Figuring out what the data that you collected means.
What is interpret / interpretation?
