Focus = below ground where rocks break

Epicenter = area directly above the focus above-ground

300

The highest point in a tsunami wave is called _____ and the lowest point is called ______

Options:

Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Thailand, India, Kenya, Somalia, Maldives, Burma, Malaysia, Bangladesh, Seychelles, Madagascar, Tanzania, etc.

500

What type of volcano is... Hawaiian Islands, Yellowstone, Mt. Rainier, Mt. St. Helens, Icelandic Volcanoes

Hotspots - Hawaiian Islands, Yellowstone

Convergent - Mt. Rainier, Mt. St. Helens

Divergent - Icelandic Volcanoes

500

Explain the theory of plate tectonics in your own words.

Plates are made of lithosphere with oceanic and/or continental crust. Plates move around by seafloor spreading, driven by mantle convection. As the seafloor spreads, oceanic crust is created and pushes the plates away from the continental ridge. If a continent sits on top of a plate that is being pushed away, it will drift away as well.
