Negative Effects on Child Development: Fosters negative self-esteem, Results in poor self control, Encourages aggression, Does not stop unacceptable behavior, and negatively reinforces adults for using harsh discipline.

Removal of the child from the activity or situation and having them sit quietly in one spot for a few minutes. Allows the child to settle and regain control. Should be considered as a last resort; use other Positive Guidance Strategies instead of this.
