They make food for themselves and other organisms.

A symbiotic relationship where both organisms benefit.
What are abiotic factors?
Nonliving such as sunlight and water.
What are consumers?
They depend on other organisms for food.
What is commensalism?
Where one organism benefits and the other isn't affected either way.
What are biotic factors?
Living or once living organisms.
What are decomposers?
They break down remains and other waste and release simple inorganic molecules back into the environment.
What is paraitism?
Where one organism benefits and the other is harmed.
What is an ecosystem?
Abiotic and biotic factors work together in one location where they need a constant input of energy.
What is a food chain?
A single pathway of energy.
What is prey?
An organism that is captured and is food for predators. Always at the bottom of the food chain.
What is a niche?
A role of species in an ecosystem, such as habitat, nutrition, and activity.
What is a food web?
Multiple pathways within an ecosystem.
