Define or Describe a Food Chain.

a food chain is a relationship of living things as food sources for other living things.

A food chain describes how energy and nutrients move through an ecosystem. At the basic level there are plants that produce the energy, then it moves up to higher-level organisms like herbivores. After that when carnivores eat the herbivores, energy is transferred from one to the other.

200

Define a Producer.

A producer "produces" it's own food.

200

Define a Consumer.

Consumers: any organism that can't make its own food. Consumers have to feed on producers or other consumers to survive

200
Define a Decomposer.

decomposer. noun. organism that breaks down dead organic material;

Define or Describe an Ecosystem.

What is ecosystem ecology?

An ecosystem is a geographic area where plants, animals, and other organisms, as well as weather and landscape, work together to form a bubble of life. Ecosystems contain biotic or living, parts, as well as abiotic factors, or nonliving parts.

Define or Describe a Food Web.

A food web is multiple, interconnected food chains that overlap and form complicated patterns.

A food web consists of all the food chains in a single ecosystem. Each living thing in an ecosystem is part of multiple food chains. Each food chain is one possible path that energy and nutrients may take as they move through the ecosystem.
350

True of False.  A sunflower is a producer.

True it produces it's own food via Photosynthesis.

350

True of False.  A herbivore is a consumer?

An herbivore is an organism that mostly feeds on plants. Herbivores range in size from tiny insects such as aphids to large, lumbering elephants. Herbivores are a major part of the food web, a description of which organisms eat other organisms in the wild.
350

True or False.  Decomposers are bacteria and fungi.

True!

350

Balance of Nature: What are some examples of "Natural" changes/disasters to the environment.

Some examples of natural changes to the environment can be "Natural" disasters.  Such as, Drought, Avalanche, Hurricane, Volcano, Earthquake, "Forest Fire", etc.

450

Define or Describe an "Omnivore".

an animal or person that eats food of both plant and animal origin..
450

Define/Describe "Photosynthesis".

Photosynthesis is a process used by plants and other organisms to convert light energy into chemical energy that, through cellular respiration, can later be released to fuel the organism's activities.

450

Definition.  Find that WORD.

an organism that mostly eats meat, or the flesh of animals. Sometimes called predators.

What is a carnivore?

A carnivore is an organism that mostly eats meat, or the flesh of animals. Sometimes carnivores are called predators. Organisms that carnivores hunt are called prey.

450

Decomposers: Are they dead or alive?

Decomposers are made up of the FBI (fungi, bacteria and invertebrates—worms and insects). They are all living things that get energy by eating dead animals and plants and breaking down wastes of other animals

ALIVE!

450

How do Humans Affect changes to the environment? Give an example if necessary.

Through the advancements in tools and technology humans have made often negative effects to the environment.

550

Define Ecology.

Ecology is the study of organisms and how they interact with the environment around them. An ecologist studies the relationship between living things and their habitats

550

Can a Grass, Plant, Tree "Live" without sunlight?

No because the producers function is to produce food for itself and other organisms through photosynthesis. Without sunlight, photosynthesis is impossible.

550

Define Apex Predator.

An apex predator, also known as a top predator, is a predator at the top of a food chain, without natural predators of its own.

550

What happens when a decomposer dies?

They become part of the detritus that other living decomposers will feast upon and recycle back into the food chain!

550

Describe or give examples of Human changes to the environment.

Some examples of human changes to the environment would be dams, towns, farming...

600
Define a habitat.

A habitat is where an animal or plant is specifically suited to live and grow.

600

How doe's a producer "produce" it's own food? VIA?

Producers are living things that can make their own food using air, light, soil, and water. Plants use a process called photosynthesis to make food. Only plants can produce their own food. That's why they are called producers.

BONUS GAME!

Two are Apex Predators. One is prey.

Lion, Hawk, Fox.

The Lion and Hawk are Apex Predators.  While the fox could be consumed by the Lion.  The fox could also be prey.

600

BONUS GAME!

Two Truths, One Lie.  Two of these are "true decomposers.  Whilst the other is an imposter. Which one is the imposter?

Mold, Mushroom, Caterpillar.

Mold & Mushrooms are true decomposers.  The caterpillar is a consumer!
